about

Here's one from the archives. Produced sometime between 2003 and 2005, this collection of songs was given out to only a handful of friends. My first attempt at sample based music making, it is a little more straightforward than what I'm trying to do now. It was made using a program called N-Track Studio which may or may not exist anymore.

At the time, I didn't want to create song titles so I just went with running times. The title of the record changed depending on who I gave it to. The copy I recently recovered was titled "Chris Clark: It's OK. Play Loud". Even though no tapes were ever involved, I'm retitling it "The Flea Tape" based on the picture I put on the cover back then.

A complete list of samples isn't likely to happen because I didn't keep track of that info at the time. I thought I would remember. However, these are the one I know I used:

Los Straitjackets - All That Glitters
Sammy Davis Jr. - Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow
Esquivel - The Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Esquivel - All of Me
Esquivel - Flower Girl of Bordeaux
The Charlatans UK - The Only One I Know
The Charlatans UK - Believe You Me
Fugazi - Ex-Spectator
Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It
2 Live Crew - Me So Horny
James Brown - Funky Drummer (ubiquitous)

I think a bunch of stuff came from some Booty Bass compilation CD.

And I know there's some Dianogah in there. Maybe Eucalyptus from an early Dianogah 7" and later a CD titled "Old Material, New Format"
